After a nice little two-hour conversation with my composer/producer today over iced coffee at Starbucks, it got me to thinking about how lucky I am to have such talented people around me. Alan, an extremely blessed composer walked in to the meeting extremely stoked on a software he used to compose music for the entire Christmas Concert at Adventure Church. He showed me the printed sheet music and let me listen to one of the original compositions. I was beyond impressed. The look in his eyes was one of joy, confidence and most of all…passion! Passion for music, passion for technology, and most importantly, passion for his faith in God. I always leave meetings with Alan feeling better about life in general. I want to thank him for always lending me an ear, and for his collaboration and friendship with past and present productions. I’m proud of what he’s accomplished, and for what the future of BROKEN holds for us all.
We’re now days away from 2012 and before we know it, we’ll be in the desert somewhere shooting the second block of BROKEN. The first block went off without a glitch (for the most part. YEAH, we had your standard delays, but nothing major and no meltdowns from cast or crew, very different than any other production I’ve worked on. It’s amazing what happens when you have people organically working for the passion of a project with mutual respect for those around them…REFRESHING), and we were blessed with a couple of nice surprises that will add hugely to our production value. We have four scenes out of 30+ roughed out, and Brian’s instincts on edit to this point have been spot on. There’s lots of pre-production for the next 8 weeks on the second block. First on the slate is to finish the rewrite of the second block (which I’m doing right now), and secondly, find the three locations we’ll be shooting at. After that, it’s grab our two stars, Brian and Marty, our crew, Mario, Jo, Brian, Alan and I, and we’re off and running.
We’re looking forward to finishing principle photography in late February to early March. And from what we’ve seen so far we believe we’re onto something very special. Check in soon for more updates.
So we finished shooting the first part of the film and a couple of the last scenes early November. I spent most of the time (after a family vacation) processing the footage to 1080p files. My laptop was running for at least a week straight!!!
There will be production updates soon!!
